Waiting Mother

Theme: The sculpture is based on the theme of Remembrance ‘71. During the Bangladesh War of Liberation, the freedom fighters left their homes aiming to fight the Pakistani forces and liberate the country. As their mothers waited in the hope of returning their intrepid sons, many of the freedom fighters died during the war. However, in many cases the mothers of the martyred souls could not know the death of their sons. The mothers kept waiting in hope to embrace their sons, yet the waiting period never ended. The undying hope of the mothers is portrayed in this sculpture.
