Hamiduzzaman Khan Retrospective. Bangladesh National Museum, Dhaka, Bangladesh
October 27, 2017 8:00 am - November 6, 2017 5:00 pm

Bangladesh National Museum organised a solo exhibition of artist and sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan at its Nalinikanta Bhattashali Gallery. The exhibition was inaugurated by political scientist and art critic Professor Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir. The art critic said one comes away with an idea of how Dhaka evolved by surveying the works of Hamuduzzamn – they demonstrate how this city transformed itself with its ecosystem. We do not witness anything unsavoury in his realm: what he represents has been brought to light with empathy. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hashem Khan, said that Hamiduzzaman’s work is a testimony to the war of liberation – it is a recurring theme in his sculptures. The artist has carved out a niche in our consciousness because of his creativity and his references to the liberation war – this makes him stay forever in the public consciousness. The exhibition included over 300 sculptural pieces and 25 paintings of the artist, spanning his career between 1964 and 2017.
