SUMMARY:14th Anniversary Exhibition by Galleri Kaya. Galleri Kaya\, Dhaka\, Bangladesh
DESCRIPTION:Galleri Kaya\, on the occasion of its 14th anniversary\, organised a group art exhibition\, showcasing 65 artworks by thirty-eight Bangladeshi and Indian artists. The artworks were done from the year 1953 till 2018\, covering a wide range of themes and media. Participating artists included Murtaza Baseer\, Syed Janhangir\, Samarjit Roy Chowdhury\, Hashem Khan\, Ranajit Das\, Monirul Islam\, Kalidas Karmakar\, Hamiduzzaman Khan\, Maqbool Fida Husain\, Nazlee Laila Mansur\, Nagarbasi Burman\, Shishir Bhattacharjee\, Kamaluddin\, Jamal Ahmed\, Mohammad Iqbal and others. Themes of the artworks included social and political issues\, nature\, landscapes\, human figure\, emotions and so forth. The show also displayed some portraits in different mediums like watercolour\, acrylic\, and oil-paint. The show featured five lithograph prints from renowned Indian artist Maqbool Fida Husain’s Mother series and Human Space series. The prints depicted a mother’s love for her child and the struggles of people. Hamiduzzaman Khan displayed a number of his paintings at the exhibition. One of them\, an acrylic painting titled Seascape\, showed waves trashing a ship during a raging sea storm. The oldest artwork on display was Murtaza Bashir’s watercolour painting titled Landscape. The painting depicted rustic life and showed a village with trees\, orchards and houses on the bank of a river.
